YOUTH DEVELOPMENT
Excel after the bell
The Y offers afterschool childcare for school-age children in the Asheville City, Buncombe County, and McDowell County school systems. The program has several options to fit your budget and schedule. Choose from school year only, school year and summer break, or a year-round upgrade that includes overnight camp. Learn more and sign up for afterschool here.
Fall into sports
Your team is calling! Sports at the Y are a healthy way for children to gain new skills, learn teamwork, and connect with positive role models — all in an inclusive environment. Sign up here for soccer and flag football. Play begins Sept. 3. Financial assistance is available.
Read, paint, and create
Kids ages 7-12 are invited to strengthen their reading and writing skills and dive into the world of creativity with the Art and Literacy program at the Ferguson Family YMCA. Participants will gain confidence in their reading ability and have a blast exploring the arts. Sign up here.

SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY
Feeding our community
The YMCA's free mobile food markets visit dozens of locations each month, pairing free healthy food with tasty recipes, practical cooking demonstrations, and valuable nutrition information that's easy to understand. Spanish-speaking community health workers are also on hand to connect attendees with local resources. Distributions are open to the public, no questions asked. See this month's schedule here.
We are also happy to announce a new mobile food market location! Starting Aug. 22, join us at the Woodfin YMCA on the third Thursday of each month from 2-3 p.m.
Your wishes, your way
August is Make a Will Month, so it's the perfect time to consider including the YMCA in your estate plan. Ensuring the future of programs that build a healthy spirit, mind, and body is a wonderful legacy. Donors who give at a certain level, either with a financial contribution during their lifetime or a planned gift, will be welcomed into our Heritage Club. To learn more about joining this esteemed group, please contact us.
You can also join us on August 22 at the Corpening Memorial Y for a free educational discussion on pre-funeral planning. Learn more here.
